This Privacy Notice is intended to inform you about the types of information gathered by Searchinmates.org (“we” or “us”) when you use Searchinmates.org, how we use that information, and your options for controlling our use of your information.
We will inform registered Searchinmates.org users by email of any material changes to this Privacy Notice. All others may review the most recent Privacy Notice on the Searchinmates.org website.
By accessing, browsing, or otherwise using the Sites, you acknowledge and consent to our collection and use of information as set forth in this Privacy Notice. When you use Searchinmates.org, we will not collect any personal information about you unless you choose to provide such information to us.
If you purchase Searchinmates.org services, we will ask you to provide certain personal information such as your name and email address, as well as payment information and a billing address. We use this information to complete your purchase. We securely collect and store personal financial information for purposes of processing payments and completing transactions. In some cases we may securely provide this personal financial information to a third party vendor to process payments.
We store your Searchinmates.org search history and make it available to you in the Search History page of your Member’s Area. We may send you promotional offers regarding updated search results and additional suggested searches. We do not share your search history with any third parties, except in the limited circumstances described in the Disclosure provision below.
For sites that offer motor vehicle record searches, we retain records of your search for five years as required by the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act of 1994 (DPPA).
We automatically collect information regarding your usage of Searchinmates.org, including your IP address, device identifier, and pages visited. This information is anonymized and does not retain your personal information.
Information Use and Disclosure
If you choose to purchase Searchinmates.org services, we will send you a welcome email including information about your purchase and account. We will also periodically send you alerts regarding updated results for searches you have previously conducted and updated information about the subject of your search.
You may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us as instructed in each email or desktop/browser notification, or please click here for instructions. Be advised, however, that you may not opt-out of receiving email notifications from us related to technical support or customer service requests, billing and subscription issues, search alerts, or changes to the Searchinmates.org Terms of Service Agreement or Privacy Notice.
We provide you with a method of removing certain information about you from Searchinmates.org search results. Please click here to view our Data Removal Policy.
We will disclose information collected from and about you to the following entities for the following purposes: (1) to our related companies, service providers and suppliers, to enable them to fulfill a product or service request or to perform a business, professional or technical support function for us; (2) as necessary if we believe that there has been a violation of our Terms of Service Agreement or of our rights or the rights of any third party; and (3) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law.
If you choose to receive communications from our marketing partners, advertisers, or other third parties, we may sell, rent or lease your personal information to those parties.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) and other California privacy laws provide California residents (i.e., consumers) with specific rights regarding personal information. This section of the Privacy Notice describes those CCPA rights and how to exercise those rights. This section does not apply to the publicly available information.
Pursuant to the CCPA, California consumers have the following rights:
- The right to know what personal information we collected, use, share or sell.
- The right to have us delete any personal information we or our services providers may possess.
- The right to opt-out of sale or disclosure of personal information.
- The right to opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us.
- The right to non-discrimination in terms of price or service.

We will review the information provided and may request additional information to ensure we are interacting with the correct individual. Please also be aware that making a request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal or deletion of your personal information, and there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow us to fulfill your request.
In the event Searchinmates.org goes through a business transition, any personally identifiable information we have on record will likely be among the assets transferred. The transferred information will remain subject to the provisions of this Privacy Notice.
We employ security measures to protect the misuse of information under our control. We take commercially reasonable steps to protect this information. However, please be advised that while we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent unauthorized access from occurring. Please take steps to maintain the security of your account information.
Not Intended for Children Under 13
The Site is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18 and we do not specifically market to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit, collect, maintain or disclose any Personal Information from children under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, please do not:
- sign up for any service via the Sites; or
- otherwise, interact with the Sites.
You may add the protection of certain of our services to minors in your household, but we only process that personal data at your direction and in order to provide those specified Services. By providing such information for processing, you confirm that you are authorized to act on behalf of the minor.
