1. Not a government website
searchinmates.org is a private website. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any sheriff, jail, prison, court, or government agency.
2. Information may be wrong or out of date
We copy information from public sheriff and corrections sources. It may be incomplete, delayed, out of date or wrong, and a person may have been released, transferred, or had charges changed or dismissed since our last update. An arrest or charge is not a conviction, and everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Always verify information with the agency before relying on it.
3. No FCRA uses
searchinmates.org is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. 1681 and following, and the information on this site is not a consumer report. You must not use this site or its information, in whole or in part, as a factor in deciding a person's eligibility for employment, housing or tenancy, credit, insurance, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA or similar state laws.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or harm anyone, including people in custody, victims, witnesses or their families;
- do anything unlawful, including discrimination prohibited by law;
- copy person records in bulk, or resell our data, without our written permission (normal indexing by search engines and AI assistants is fine);
- interfere with the site, overload it, or get around its security.
5. Removal is free
Anyone may request removal of a record at no cost using our removal form. We never charge for removal.
